GENERAL DIRECTOR OF BURSAGAZ AHMET HAKAN TOLA FEATURED ON THE TV PROGRAM EKODİNAMİK

General Director of Bursagaz, Ahmet Hakan Tola, was the featured guest on the TV program Ekodinamik, in which the week's current global economic events and the future of the Turkish economy are discussed. Broadcast live on Olay TV by Feridun Eyüpoğlu, Tola answered topical questions about natural gas and fielded questions from studio guests and by telephone. In a cozy and sincere atmosphere, all questions were met with enlightening remarks.

Eyüpoğlu opened the program by questioning the truth of the news report which broadcast the headline “Bursa Will Run Out of Gas in November,” which became a hot issue and caused great concern for the people of Bursagaz. Tola responded by saying the company was purchasing natural gas from three suppliers in total in addition to BOTAŞ when the news broke. He stated that there were problems in the pull of the two suppliers other than BOTAŞ, but that there will not be any changes in the amount of natural gas coming to Turkey. He asserted that Turkey already purchases an excess supply of natural gas, that the necessary natural gas was provided by communicating with BOTAŞ at that date and that Bursa is in no worry of running out of natural gas. He expressed that the natural gas supply will not be limited to BOTAŞ in the following periods and added that gas supply can also be made by distribution firms thanks to privatization. He maintained that natural gas prices could become cheaper when privatization takes effect.

Secondly, Eyüpoğlu asked whether there will be any price increases in natural gas in the following days. Tola responded that when the increase in natural gas prices from the past several years is taken into account, there will not be a significant increase. In fact, there was even a decrease in the price of natural gas in 2008, when the cubic metric price of natural gas was 1 Turkish Lira and was reduced to 67 kuruş, that there was no price increase from May 2009 to September 2011, and that the cubic metric price is currently 76 kuruş with no additional price increase being expected. When Eyüpoğlu asked about  Bursagaz’s share of each 100 TL, Tola replied that 76% of every 100 TL goes to BOTAŞ, 3% to PCT, 5.75% to Bursagaz and 15.25% to VAT.  He said that gas distribution is made with the 5.75% obtained from subscribers, personnel employment is provided, activities are carried out to increase the safety of users and, in addition to these, a substantial portion is committed to social responsibility projects, so that what is earned from Bursa is again used for adding value to the local community; finally, he added, the extent to which Bursagaz can benefit is also supervised by EMRA.

Eyüpoğlu proceeded to ask questions about user safety and how to use natural gas more efficiently and enlightened viewers with the detailed information provided by Tola. Tola stated that insulation is very important for providing efficient heating, the front and top of radiators must not be covered, reflectors must be placed behind radiators, optimum temperature must be determined and combi setting must be kept stable at the same level, regular maintenance of burner devices and chimneys can lead to savings in gas bills, that maintenance is very important in the safe usage of natural gas and that detailed information about this can be located on Bursagaz's website.

Lastly, Tola mentioned Bursagaz's social responsibility projects and the joint work they carry out with the Education Volunteers Association (EGD) and concluded his remarks by asserting that the company always supports education, sports and culture and will continue in this direction.
