BURSAGAZ RECORDED THE HIGHEST MONTHLY NATURAL GAS DISTRIBUTION IN COMPANY HISTORY

January's intense cold coupled wıth Bursagaz's highest customer base--currently at 617,719 natural gas users after the addition of 45,000 new customers in 2011--has led to January's record-breaking monthly gas distribution total of 226.6 million cubic meters.

As January's average daily temperature was colder than in previous years, the average daily amount of gas distributed by January 31, 2012 was 5.45 million m setting a company record for highest daily supply.

134.5 million m3 of January's 226.6 million m3 total consumption was consumed by residential and industrial customers while 92.1 million m3 was consumed by power plants and OIZs.

Bursagaz registered total gas sales of 693 million m3 for residential and industrial use and a gas transmission service of 831 million m3 for power plants and OIZs to wholesale companies.

According to recent research, there has been an increase in the number of avoidable carbon monoxide poisonings due to the intervention of unauthorized and unqualified persons in residential installations and because of devices and chimneys not receiving necessary annual maintenance.

As explained by Bursagaz, in order to ensure safety, natural gas users should not intervene themselves nor allow other unauthorized intervention of their installations that have not been approved by Bursagaz. It is also of vital importance that chimneys and burning devices only be maintained by authorized firms, that carbon monoxide detection and warning devices be installed and that the ventillation openings in the areas where the devices are located remain open. Natural gas users must switch their natural gas devices off after any power cuts due to extreme winter conditions and must not re-activate their devices until some time after the power cut terminates.  If natural gas devices are immediately switched on after the power cut is over, failures might occur on the network due to this sudden and simultaneous usage, thus disrupting daily life for customers.

Bursagaz continues to serve its customers in all circumstances with its experienced and competent technical staff, reached 24/7 via the Emergency 187 line, who are prepared to respond to all potential customer questions and needs related to natural gas usage, in order to provide a safe and continuous supply of natural gas and prevent any possible disasters in advance.
